Stark is a young black lab who is closely bonded to his owner Eric. Playful and outgoing, he loves his job, which involves helping Eric, a veteran, with his PTSD. He wakes Eric up from nightmares and provides security.
Service Dog team Erich and Stark have been spending the past 2 weeks in NYC with Erich's job as EMT support for Amphibious Medics. He also has a part time job with the media/movie department providing first aid support during filmings. This is a huge trip for Erich and something he could not have accomplished without his battle buddy, Stark.
As Stark's trainer, I couldn't be prouder. This is the type of affirmation our service dog trainers treasure and the reason we keep doing what we do. They took a non stop red eye to NYC and went to work upon arrival then faced heavy subway traffic that first night. To avoid the overload of the crowded subway, Erich and Stark got drenched in the rain, waiting for a safer time. They have adapted well since then and Erich has sent a few photos which I want to share. In one photo, he actually pointed out to me to notice how Stark is watching his back. Erich is very tuned into messages Stark sends him and relies on him in stressful environments. They even made it to the 9/11 Museum, a very moving and emotional experience for Erich, a Navy veteran."
